  • Reverse Sync an iPod?

Posted on July 9th, 2009 servbit2 No comments

    Hello,

The iTunes library on my machine is all messed up, so I don’t want to sync it up to my iPod. What I actually want to do is to sync what’s on the iPod into my computer. Is that possible?

    http://lifehacker.com/software/ipod/how-to-copy-songs-from-your-ipod-to-your-pc-105256.php

Then load up all the songs back on itunes.

Another option is to use EphPod- http://www.ephpod.com/download.shtml
    Or MediaMonkey- http://www.mediamonkey.com/
Or if you have a Mac- http://www.ilinkpod.com/

  • Corrupted iPod?

Posted on July 9th, 2009 servbit2 No comments

I am receiving the following error when I try to sync my iPod.
“iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod”

I already tried resetting and restoring my iPod. I don’t know what to do!

Xema, you are definately the man of the moment. Since they were dredging the local river and happened to come across my old Click Wheel iPod I thought I’d give your diagnostics a try. It couldn’t ressurect my iPod but it really got me going since a lot of the tests were there. So I had a look at a site where this guy recommends taking a screwdriver to the thing and shoving in a slice of a beer coaster or a business card to force the hard drive not to wander off course. Didn’t work the first time, and the screwdriver was hacking it up a bit, so I took to it with a paint scraper, which worked really well. I inserted a folded up business card against the HDD and also scrunged up the connecting leads to make sure they didn’t wander around. And voila, it came alive. Now to quickly back up the songs — that Steve Jobs doesn’t want us to back up — **&%###**=@ — So I tried my old copy of EphPod, which kind of worked but the Ipod control folder was messing with it. So I dowloaded the lastest EphPod 2.77, which worked like a beauty. Then back to iTunes, which updated the Ipod software to 3.1.1. or whatever it was. And in no time I was rocking around the lounge room to Bowie again, like a teenager.
Mystified though! Couldn’t find the beer coaster/ business card fix anywhere on the Apple site??????

    Go to this page
    http://www.tongfamily.com/apple/ipod/ipod_diagnostics_and.php
    And perform the following tests
    * Diagnostic screen: Reset the iPod and when the Apple logo shows, press the Select and Back buttons
o HARD R/W Read and write hard drive test. Reads HDD pass if all goes well.
o SMRT DAT Another hard drive test. Reads RETRACTS 4 REALLOCS 0 PENDING 0.
o SMRT SCAN Appears to be akin to a regular iPod’s Disk Scan test. This takes several minutes so don’t perform this test unless the iPod is plugged into a power source.
o DRV TEMP Displays drive temperature.
Do this before taking it to the service or droping it into the trash can.

    http://www.realplayerweb.com/co/real/realplayerweb/p2_videoaudioplayer.asp?sid=M2AG0002cGS
    “iPod Users
If you’re an iPod user, you can sync your iPod and RealPlayer together. Look at the “Devices” option and look to see if you already have your iPod enabled in there. Chances are the iPod is pre-enabled, so setting up will be quite easy from here on. Basically, if you’d like your iPod and Real to sync, just check off a little box at the bottom of the “Devices” menu that says “Automatic Launch”. Now, every time you connect your iPod (or any other enabled device), RealPlayer will fire up as well, allowing you to browse your device with it. ”
You should be able to do it, but a eoinosullivan stated IPod touch & IPhone behave different

    SORRY, BAD NEWS

The very best you can hope for is to copy music on-off the iPod Touch using the TouchCopy program .. there isn’t a way to Sync music from RealPlayer to the iPod .. because Apple do not allow it!!

  • How to connect to the Internet with the iPod Touch

Posted on July 9th, 2009 servbit2 No comments

I have checked other similar questions here but have not found an answer. I amtyring to connect to the Internet using the iPod Touch. I configured the Wi Fi Settings. The iPod detects my network using WEP and DHCP. I entered the code and the device indicates that is connected to the network. However, none of the functions that uses Internet.
    Any ideas for troubleshooting? Thanks
    MaryG

These are the steps to try

    1. Disable all encryption on the Internet connection WEP or WPA or if there are any MAC filters.

    2. Now try and connect to the Wireless network with the iTouch. If this does not work then ..

    3. Manually enter an IP address, subnet and DNS (take details from another computer successfully connected to the wireless and increment the last digits the IP by 1 .. if this doesn’t work then there is something strange going wrong.

    4. Tell us the model & make of your wireless using, the ip address, subnet and domain you are entering. The IP address of a computer that is successfully connecting.

  • Extracting music from Ipod Touch

Posted on July 9th, 2009 servbit2 No comments

    Hi,
I own an Ipod Touch. Recently I’ve been trying in vain to extract my songs from the Touch to my PC. All because they were deleted from my harddisk in the past.
I’ve tried many softwares but most of them don’t detect Ipod Touch but only normal Ipods. Does anyone know a good software I can use to extract the songs? Or is there a way to use windows itself to retrieve it from the touch? I’m using windows vista by the way.

    Thank you.

    Try this one TouchCopy
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/
I’ve used with an IPod Video
Also you can do it with freeware
First set your Ipod to be used as a hard disk.
    On the Ipod
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds.
press Select and Play when you see the Apple logo, the Ipod should show a check mark, now you are in Hard Disk Mode. Select the Ipod as a hard disk from explorer, with the op`tion “show hidden files” turned on, and proced to copy your music to your computer
You won’t have the names on the files so do this
Search the web and download MP3TagEditor
Run it select one of the folders recovered from the Ipod, select all songs, right click on the mouse and select rename file from tag
Do this in all the folders, the you can copy all the music files to where you want, only thing is it ONLY WORKS WITH MP3, not with ACC that is the format that ITunes uses.
For ACC just install Itunes on the new computer and impor the folders.
