iTunes & Burning CDs

Everytime I open iTunes I get the error message listed. I’ve tried reinstalling the softare, however it does not have any effect. I cannot burn music onto CDs or DVDs. I had Nero 8 essentials installed and I have not removed that. However I still get the same message.

iPod Touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows

My new iTouch does not show up in iTunes. When I connect it to my computer, a box pops up recognizing it as a camera. I tried the troubleshooting described in Apple support and it appears that the driver is not installing. The iTouch does not appear in the Device Manager USB controllers. I reinstalled iTunes three times with the same result. I have Windows XP Professional and all system requirements are met.

I have my work computer up to date, the upgrades are downloaded to the server and then they are set avaible to the users, best chance ask your support personel to have the SP3 installed in your computer.
Also as the previous iPod where capable, with out any software, to be used as a removable Hard Disk it’s likely that with heavy security the use of an external HD has been blocked by the administrator and that’s why you can’t connect the iPod to your computer. Ask your support personal.

Instead of Itunes try using Poddox, an portable application and an effective replacement to Itunes to copy songs from system to Ipod.

Besides Poddox is free of cost.

iTunes 7 - “original file cannot be found. would you like to locate it?”

I recently moved this employees iTunes music files from the server to an external USB hard drive connected to her PC so she’s not streaming music across the LAN all day. Everything was working fine until yesterday when I re-targeted her My Documents folder to pint to the corect location on the server.

Her current and correct iTunes music folder path is:

E:\Kristi\iTunesMusic

In iTunes I went to Edit - Preferences - Advanced tab

and verified the correct folder path is listed. I even tried re-selecting the correct folder path. Now when she tries to play a song she has to go find it. How did altering the My Documents patch screw up iTunes when her music had been removed from her standard [My Documents\My Music] path a long time ago.

I cannot figure out how to tell iTunes that the music is exactly where it was before I re-targeted her My Documents folder. I’ve double-checked the drive letter mapping and am stumped now. Thanks for any helpful insight.

Very Best Way to Move Itunes library from one computer to another using a flashdrive?

When checking the Apple website, it says the best way to move the itunes library from one computer to another is to use the internal ackup option to burn it to cds or dvds. I have a very large library, and want to move it via a flashdrive. I can’t seem to find a streamlined way to do that.

Best, least complicated method?

I believe you should be able to find the actual files on your hardrive most likely under you my documents under music…or wherever you have pointed ITUNES to store music…You can find that directory by going to ITUNES –> Edit Menu –> Preferences –ADvanced Tab –> General Tab –> ITUNES Music Folder Location…that should be where all your music is. Also make sure that you had a check box next to “Copy files to ITUNES Music folder when adding to library”. If not you may have files elsewhere. If you only have stuff purchased from ITUNES then you are fine but if you had a prior MP3 or other music file collection they may be wherever they were normally stored before you used ITUNES.

Copy all the files onto the new PC, Point ITunes to that location on the new PC….then authorize that PC via ITUNES and test….if all is working de-authorize on the old one and you are all set….Or leave them authorized if you are using ITUNES on both PCs and they belong to you. I was assuming you were selling or disposing of the initial PC and hence might want to deauthorize the computer

How to download iTunes music onto a second computer.

Hi,

I have a Mac Mini and a Windows XP laptop. I am staying at my parents house for awhile, so I have both my computers here. I have an sprint evido card for my laptop. But I can’t get my Mac Mini onto the internet because it is rather old and doesn’t have built-in wireless capabilities. (The router and modem are upstairs deep inside my parents’ bedroom.)

I usually sync my iPod to my Mac Mini, but I want to download more iTunes music onto my new iPod Nano, so I just authorized my PC laptop. But I can’t figure out how to transfer all the music from my iTunes on the Mac Mini to the iTunes on the laptop. Can someone help me out?

Sure. Do you actually need to move the music/video files too or just use the second computer to sync?

FInd the iTunes folder. It should be in some location like C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\My Music . That location is the default for Win XP. The others are similar. Let me know if you can’t find it on the Mac.

The library is in the files “iTunes Library.itl” and “iTunes Music Library.xml”. Those are the files that have to be copied and placed in the other computer’s iTunes folder for the sync to work. This will make your library the same on both computers.

If you actually want to move the music/video file then you copy the iTunes Music folder that is in the iTunes folder. The Album Artwork folder can also be copied. If those folders aren’t there the sync will still work but the Library will show the files as “missing” and show a message. You can ignore it if you wish and if the files are already on your iPod.

If the Mac stored the music/video files in a different “structure” (i.e. path or used different folders) then it is best to create a similar setup on the new computer. Otherwise you will have to change the “file location” in each song/video.

Try backing up your songs to a disc, then using that disc to transfer them to the new PC. From the File Menu, choose Back Up To Disc. When the screen pops-up, choose the ‘back entire iTunes library and playlists’ radio button and click ‘Back Up’. This will begin to burn all your songs onto a disc. Once burned, you can insert that disc into the other computer and ‘restore’ that disc to the other computer, as long as it has iTunes as well. It will require you to enter your username and password and will tell you how many computers you have enabled to play your songs as well as how many you have left.
