  • Creating Counter strike server for the internet

Posted on June 10th, 2009 servbit2 No comments

    hallo hallo

I’m trying to create a Counter strike:Source server and having problem when my mates try to join eg: Server not responding.
    I have forwarded ports 7002, 5273, 27010, 27012, 27015 on my Zyxel Prestige 660 router as advised on www.portforward.com.
My mate can ping my pc but cannot connect to the server i have created. I am trying to run the client and server on the same machine. he has tried to enter [IP Address Concealed]:27015..to no avail.
Not sure what else i have to do

I have Windows XP and counter strike source with Steam client.

It is really important that your friend connects to your WAN IP, they can’t see your LAN and this is what port forwarding does. It creates a transparent link between the port address on the WAN IP and the same port on a specific PC on the LAN at that address. When someone connects to 200.2.2.2:1200 the router actually directs the packet to 192.2.3.6:1200 and does the same with your outgoing data. This would normally be no problem BUT some (generally DSL) routers have been the cause of endless problems with Steam.

Suspect the Prestige Router is what is letting you down.

linksys are the most releiable for port forwarding.

I find that 1 out 2 home routers can’t forward ports right, might want to check for a firmware patch.

    Also make sure the following.

    1. Your local ip adress is static . ie: 1.1.1.1

    2. The port forwarding is pointing to your static local ip address. 200.2.2.2: ports 27000-27039 >> 1.1.1.1

    3. If your running dedicated server, you can connect your client locally for a test, first try the 1.1.1.1, then try 200.2.2.2

    4. Get down to the real nitty gritty, load a packet sniffer to see if anything i makiing by your router.

    5. Verfify the wan ip is what you think it is.

  • Constructor won`t work on XP

Posted on June 10th, 2009 servbit2 No comments

well constructor won`t work on win XP.
it only shows a black screen and then stops.
if anyone has an answer please tell me.

    Things to try:

    1. Go to www.acclaim.com/games/constructor and download the European Constructor patch.
    2. Install Constructor as usual.
    3. Unzip the European Constructor patch and now you just follow the steps that are in the file README.TXT.

NOTE: if you`re using MS XP, do not forget to run the compatibility mode for Win95 on the European Constructor Patch Setup.

  • Driving Game for Mac?

Posted on June 10th, 2009 servbit2 No comments

I want to set up a driving game for my G3 with steering wheel and foot pedals. What is the best software and who sells it online?

What kind of steering wheel and pedals do you have? I have a Thrustmaster T2 from way back when, which offers pretty basic function, but unfortunately doesn’t work with my favorite driving game - Carmageddon. Carmageddon is not exactly something you want children to be playing, and a demo is available online to get a taste for it. For “real” driving I’ve been pretty happy with my NASCAR 2 program - its really a racing simulator, and gets into the nitty gritty, but by today’s standards its pretty low resolution graphics. But it sure is cool being able to talk to the pit via microphone using voice recognition. There are few driving games out there for the mac. Racing Days R is another mac game (mac only, at that!) that was pretty fun, but more simplistic and still with rougher graphics than modern PC games. My recommendation? For reckless driving, Carmageddon, but may not work with steering wheel (has to translate into keypresses) - start with demo first. for serious simulation, NASCAR. For fun arcade -style, Racing Days R. Have fun, and drive safely! (except Carmageddon, of course). Oh, and online shopping: at shopper.com you’ll find NASCAR2, Carmageddon. Racing Days R, your best bet is directly from www.feral.co.uk - it seems they have a distributor in Iceland, but not US or Canada. If you’re dying to have it, I actually have it and don’t play it anymore.

  • Project IGI, savegame patch ??

Posted on June 10th, 2009 servbit2 No comments

    Hi guys,

A friend of mine bought Project IGI, but unfortunately he doesn’t has the ability to save during a level.
Is there a savegame-patch available. I did some lookup on the net but I couldn’t find anything.
Maybe you guys know where I can find this. Thanks alot in advance …

    The Mayor.

If you mean the first game - there is no save patch. You have to play without saving. IGI 2 has savegame functionality.
